Now accepting applications for Scientific Program Officer for Program in Vascular Medicine
The Cooke Lab is searching for a Scientific Program Officer to assist with our efforts to expand and strengthen our research and educational enterprise. Our research program is focused on understanding the mechanisms of vascular regeneration, and to translate these molecular insights into pre-clinical models, with the ultimate goal of developing strategies to restore vascular health, to build new blood vessels, and to reverse vascular aging. The Program Officer will identify new funding opportunities to support our mission, and will draft funding proposals, while working closely with the PI and postdoctoral fellows. The Program Officer will communicate with regulatory bodies regarding grant proposals and experimental protocols and will develop, implement, and evaluate vascular educational initiatives such as seminars, conferences, and symposia.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. and at least four years of experience in biomedical research at the postdoctoral level. Candidates should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of molecular and cellular biology. Experience in stem cell and/or vascular biology is preferred and coursework or experience in Business Administration would be useful. The position requires experience and prior success with applications for research funding and a strong scientific background including a strong publication record. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and will love science and scientific communication. The successful candidate will also have outstanding written communication, editing and information gathering skills, and the ability to plan and manage multiple projects, prioritize goals, and work independently. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively and work collegially with medical and science faculty, administrators, and staff both internal and external to Stanford. Prior management training and experience is preferred but not essential. If interested, please contact John Cooke at john.cooke@stanford.edu.
